CPU Architecture & Input/Output Devices

Fetch: The CU fetches the next instruction from memory, based on the program counter (PC).
Decode: The CU interprets (decodes) the instruction to determine what operation needs to be performed.
Execute: The CU directs the ALU, registers, and other components to perform the specified operation.
Store (Write-back): The result of the execution is written back to memory or a register.
